Weaving Community
The Bisbee Fiber Arts Guild (BFAG) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located in historic Old Bisbee, Arizona, dedicated to the practice, promotion, and education of fiber and textile arts. Operating for over 25 years, the guild serves as both a creative sanctuary for members and a public resource for the Southern Arizona community.

The guild is headquartered in the Joan Ruane Fiber Studio, located in the basement of the historic Bisbee Community Y (YWCA) at 26 Howell Avenue.

This retail space features handcrafted items by guild members, including hand-spun yarns, rugs, clothing, and jewelry. It is typically open seasonally from October through May, on Friday through Monday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

A working space equipped with floor looms, spinning wheels, and tools for dyeing, felting, and basketry.

The guild offers a variety of classes and workshops, including a required “Rag Rug Basics” course for those wishing to use the collective warp floor looms.

The guild emphasizes social justice and community service through various initiatives. It collaborates with the Copper Queen Library to provide handmade winter gear for at-risk populations. Members conduct demonstrations at local craft fairs, offer programs for Girl Scout troops, and have supported international projects like the Mariposa Art School in Naco, Mexico.

By selling member work on commission, the guild fosters local economic opportunities and artistic development.
