Mobile Masterpieces
If you’ve ever looked at your sensible Honda Civic and thought, “This really needs more doll heads,” then Art Car World is your spiritual home.

Located just down the road from Bisbee in Douglas, this is where “safety ratings” go to die and “hot glue” becomes a lifestyle choice.

The museum serves as a retirement home for vehicles that clearly went through a mid-life crisis and came out the other side as fire-breathing dragons or rolling stained-glass windows.

You can stand in awe of a van covered in 15,000 nickels or a “Vehicle of Enlightenment” that probably gets terrible gas mileage but incredible karma.

It’s the only place on Earth where a 11,000-square-foot roof renovation is currently protecting a fleet of cars that look like they were designed by a very creative toddler with access to a welding torch and a fever dream.

Essential Logistics:
- Location: 1001 G Avenue, Douglas, AZ. It is located in a massive former car dealership building, just a block away from the Last Supper Museum.
- Hours: Generally open Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Like many local spots, it’s best to call ahead or check their social media as hours can be subject to volunteer availability.
- Admission: Usually a $10 suggested donation for adults, which goes directly toward the maintenance of these complex, aging vehicles.
- Photography: This is a photographer’s dream. Non-flash photography is encouraged, but do not touch or climb on the vehicles as many are fragile.
- The “Art Car” Community: If you’re lucky, you might visit while Harrod or other artists are on-site working on a new project or restoring an old favorite.
- Douglas Arts District: Since it’s so close to the Gadsden Hotel and the Last Supper Museum, you can easily see all three in a single afternoon walk.
