Watch Art Go Downhill
Bisbee B.R.A.T.S. (Bisbee Rolling Arts Transport Society) is the town’s high-octane answer to the question: “What happens when you give an artist a set of wheels and a steep hill?”

This annual gravity art parade is a beloved highlight of the Bisbee arts calendar, featuring a fleet of “art cars” that rely entirely on the town’s treacherous inclines rather than engines.

Each entry is a meticulously crafted, mobile masterpiece—ranging from fire-breathing dragons and giant rubber ducks to steampunk contraptions made of recycled mining scrap.

The event embodies Bisbee’s ethos of “serious play,” combining technical ingenuity with a rebellious, bohemian flair that celebrates the town’s vertical landscape.
Essential Logistics:
- When: Annually in late October
- Route: The parade traditionally begins at the Jonquil Motel, winds down Main Street, and often concludes with a “show and shine” display on Subway Street.
- Cost: Free for spectators. If you want to enter a vehicle, you usually need to register with the Bisbee B.R.A.T.S. for a small fee.
- Early Arrival: Main Street and the Gulch fill up fast. Stake out a spot at least 45 minutes early, especially if you want a view of the vehicles coming down the steep grade of the Tombstone Canyon.
- Street Closures: Be aware that Main Street will be closed to thru-traffic during the event. Park in the large public lot near the Convention Center and walk in.
- The “Pit” Stop: After the parade, the vehicles usually park for a public viewing, offering the best chance to take close-up photos and talk to the “Brats” about their builds.
