Muck Rock
In Bisbee, Arizona, the name Muckrock (the professional handle for British-born, Venice Beach-based artist Jules Muck) is synonymous with the town’s modern evolution from a historic mining camp into a “graffiti-forward” art destination.

Jules Muck is a world-renowned street and mural artist who has left a significant mark on the town of Bisbee, Arizona, with dozens of her vibrant works adorning local buildings and homes.

Muckrock has painted more than 60 murals on private homes and public buildings throughout Bisbee’s various districts. Her work is characterized by vibrant colors, a signature green palette, and a focus on both pop culture and natural motifs.

Numerous residents in the historic Warren neighborhood have commissioned “Muckrock blossoms” and portraits on their properties.

One of her most prominent public works is a large-scale mural on the Bisbee Boys & Girls Club.

Her smaller, more improvisational “tags” can be found along the town’s alleyways and Subway Street.

She created a signature mural for the Copper Pig restaurant in the Warren neighborhood.

Muckrock’s deep connection to Bisbee is inextricably linked to Sloane Bouchever, the founder of the Artemizia Foundation. Their friendship was a primary driver for Bouchever’s transition from a traditional art collector to a champion of contemporary street and graffiti art. Bouchever frequently takes visitors on “Muck Tours” to see her extensive local portfolio.

While many of her murals are on private residences, the highest concentration for public viewing can be found by walking the stairs of Old Bisbee or driving the main avenues of the Warren district.

Know Before You Go:
- Access: These are public art installations, meaning they are free to view 24/7. They provide some of the best backdrops in town for photography and social media.
- The Experience: Because these are outdoor works, the lighting changes throughout the day. For the best photos, visit during the “golden hour” (just before sunset) when the colors really pop against the canyon walls.
- Respect the Art: While the murals are in public spaces, many are on the walls of private businesses. Be mindful of foot traffic and shop entrances while you’re taking photos.
- Digital Map: There isn’t one official “Muck Rock Map,” but following the artist’s Instagram or checking local hashtags like #BisbeeMurals can help you track down the newest additions.
- Pro Tip: Start your “mural crawl” at the top of Brewery Gulch and work your way down toward Main Street. You’ll hit at least three major Muck Rock pieces along the way!
